Marcia has over 20 years of professional experience working with a diverse clientele in the realm of mental health, substance abuse, criminal justice, and EAP counseling. She is an independently licensed counselor in both Ohio and Michigan, a Certified Employee Assistance Professional (CEAP), DOT/Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) qualified, and is a Certified First Responder Counselor (CFRC). Marcia is trained in both the National Organization for Victim Assistance (NOVA) and the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation (ICISF) group crisis intervention models.
Her work experience has included managing the Substance Abuse Access Center in Flint, MI for 10 years, implementing and coordinating a Drug Treatment Court Program in Berrien County, MI, and working for mental health facilities in the Toledo area for the past 10 years. She is also trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) therapy.
Marcia uses practices from a multitude of modalities including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), EMDR, Mindfulness, Motivational Enhancement Therapy (MET), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT) and Relational Life Therapy (RLT), when working with individuals and couples. Through a supportive and collaborative approach, she has helped thousands of clients deepen their understanding of their “stuck points”, learn tools to better navigate their challenges, and work through healing from various traumas. Marcia is skilled in working with a wide variety of issues including depression, anxiety/panic disorder, relationship conflict, various addictions, and trauma. She also has extensive experience working with first responders and military families, and is a trained provider in Military-Focused Care.
