Gwen Jones was previously employed at Harbor as the Senior Vice President of Quality Improvement, Team Resources, and Support Services. She joined the agency in 1988 as a clinical therapist and was quickly promoted to site manager at a satellite office and then rose to a Clinical Director position where she took the lead for Harbor’s Rapid Response Center, Access and Brief Treatment Services.
In January 2019, Harbor formed a joinder agreement with The Central Community Health Board (CCHB) of Hamilton County, Inc. In July, Gwen Jones was named President of CCHB.
Gwen started her career as a Social Worker at Prince Georges General Hospital located in Landover, Maryland. Gwen’s experience was rewarding in many ways, but her desire was to serve the vast majority of the underprivileged. Ms. Jones worked for 12 years for the Federal Government, Food and Nutrition Services, US Department of Agriculture in Alexander, Virginia. She held various positions within the agency and helped to combat hunger by administering the nation’s domestic nutrition assistance programs such as Food Stamps, School Lunch and Women, Infants and Children (WIC). As a civil servant she held various positions including Food Program Specialist, Program Assessment and Policy Development, Equal Opportunity Specialist and Chief, Civil Rights Branch. Gwen was later assigned to the Midwest region where her responsibilities expanded to include on-site State agency compliance surveys.
Ms. Jones received her bachelor’s degree in social work from North Carolina Agricultural and Technical State University in Greensboro and her master’s degree in Social Work from the University of Wisconsin in Madison.
